I found this during some idle car browsing and it strikes me as odd. I’ve seen year old left over vehicles on a lot, but one that’s 4 years old? Really?
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
I mean I know the ATS didn’t turn out to be the BMW killer Cadillac was hoping for, but they aren’t that awful , are they?

I heard they were amazing drivers. I think charging that much for a 4 year old car is bold

How the hell they think they gonna get MSRP for that?

Luxury is the lowest version, there’s Performance then Premium above that I think
I test drove both the 4 and 6 way back in 2014. V6 was much better but was completely put off by stupid CUE and the tiniest of backseats and trunk.
I’d say CP at even 29% off MSRP for $30 K

The problem was that they want to be par with BMW pricing just by handling alone, ignoring the fact that its Chevrolet cousin has a better interior and features. Its replacement is now a price bracket lower which is more reasonable. I’m actually tempted to save up for a CT4-V Blackwing if it is indeed RS3 money, since it’s probably the very, very last of the manual RWD sedans. I’ll look past the part that they didn’t make it a liftback like the Escala.
But I don’t know how Cadillac will survive, because it appears they still don’t get it. My nearby Chevy dealer started selling Cadillacs, but the dealership itself still looks like the set of Fargo, together with a service department that looks like a cow shed coupled with a portable classroom. Probably the salespeople are just as slimy still... had the pleasure of dealing with them when I bought my Solstice.

I’ve driven one, though I didn’t get to push it hard, but it was rather nice, and I am considering one to replace my Cruze later this year. But it struck me as crazy that this is basically a brand new car and they still want sticker for it.

These were on the lot for over 3 years, they didn’t make it to 4 but it was close.

Yeah, I don’t understand. What’s weird to me is it’s 4 years old and still brand new. What universe is this from?

I drove the turbo 4 and rather liked it, CUE I’m indifferent about, but the tiny trunk does suck.
Used 2015-17 cars with 30-60k miles seem to be going for $17-24k depending on year, mileage, options. It’s crazy to me that this one A) never sold, apparently and B) the dealer wants basically MSRP for it. What universe is this from?

I’m sad that the CT4/5-V Blackwings don’t actually get the Blackwing engine. But otherwise very cool, and I would consider one but I’m sure they will be waaaay outside my budget for the foreseeable future.
A used ATS 2.0T with a 6 speed stick seems to run $18-22k for a decent, lower mileage example and I’m strongly considering replacing my Cruze with one later this year.

The one where people don’t buy new Cadillacs sedans? So, all of them?

Eh, you’re forgetting about the snowbirds, retirees, etc. Although I don’t think they buy the ATS. So point taken.

Dont be sad, I’ve had a lot of seat time with a blackwing engine and it isn’t fitting of the character of the CTS and ATS. Blackwing was much better suited for the smooth powerful grand touring character of the CT6

They do if they're on a budget, it still says Cadillac on it

I looked at one a few years ago and once I saw that tight back seat I know it wouldn’t work for my extra tall children. Oh well.

Not asking MSRP. Cars.com is incorrect . Go to the dealer’s site.

And Cadillac dealers have pitched a fit over every effort GM has attempted to improve the dealership experience. They don't understand modern luxury car buyers, they don't want to understand modern luxury car buyers

The sales manager at this dealership should be fired. That car should have been gone years ago. The interest that has been paid on it has eroded any chance of profitability. When the 2017's were hitting the lot that thing needed to become the “manager’s special”. Fast forward to today and the 2021 models are on their way...........
Dumb ass.

If my last car buying experience was any indication, GM corporate doesn’t get it either. So now it’s a pissing match with GM telling dealers “We need to make this “better” for the customer” and dealers going “screw you, GM, don’t tell us what to do, we can make it “better” on our own!”
And of course by better I mean worse.

My children are non-existent (as far as I know), so it’s not an issue for me. Now the lack of trunk space, that’s tougher for me to deal with.

They didn’t. N o GM product sells for MSRP after it’s been out for 6 months or so. Their business model consists of having inflated MSRP numbers, then offering big discounts to make it SEEM like a deal.
Source: I was a GMC and Buick Salesman.
Now , the reason this one still exists new (simplified version) , is that GM will only give the dealer incentives and rebates on the car for a certain amount of time. Once that time is up (usually 1-2 years after it arrives at the dealer), the dealer owns it, so there’s no reason to let it go for cheap, unless they REALLY need the room on the lot.

They really aren’ t awful at all.
Part of the problem is that you have to recognize that MSRP for GM v ehicles is meaningless. Even back when they were new, current year model A TSes were being sold with 4 or 5 grand off MSRP. I’ll bet you could talk the sales guy into letting this one go for like $ 28k or less.
The other problem is that the people this would be perfect for (young people in their later twenties and early thirties) either dont know it’s a bargain, or w ant a CUV anyway. Meanwhile all the middle aged and retired folks that think they want a Cadillac are just not in the market for a tight handling sport sedan. Pro-tip, if you have kids old enough that the back seat is too small for em, you arent the target market for the ATS.
But man, as a guy who still regrets ending the lease on his ATS coupe, the cars were fucking great.

I was being facetious with the awful comment, I’ve driven them and quite like them, and am strongly considering one to replace my 2012 Cruze later this fall.
